The primary sections which explain how to install and use the basic functionality that jGenUI provides are already translated. We will soon publish other sections, including extended configuration and customizations that can be applied to the generator to get your application ‘à la carte’, and some jGenUI´s internals explained.

You can access the (partially) translated manual by using the Documentation/Manual menu at the top of jGenUI’s website.

jGenUI aims to significantly reduce the time and cost of developing a business application RIA. Its strategy is to identify repeatable tasks, in order to concentrate the efforts of programmers in complex business logic.
It is thus a code generator that automatically produces much of a business application RIA (Rich Internet Application). Notice that it means “a good part” and that’s just because jGenUI not intended to generate 100%. This is part of the philosophy that the product has been designed. Far from trying to “generate all” or dispense with the developer, the software is designed to make the task easier.

As part of this view the code generated is very similar to one that a developer could write, since it assumes that the developer will have to interact with it. Interact could be ie. use a generated class from a class of its own, or in some case modify a generated class .
jGenUI is a product written in Java that generates Java EE applications integrated with SEAM Framework. So technologies beyond are: Java, AJAX, JSF, JPA.

Initially conceived as a software focused on the presentation layer, its definition has been expanded and is now capable of generating a functional CRUD based business model.
One of its main differential is that it is not a tool for prototyping. While it may be useful for this, jGenUI generates code in order to be used directly in production environment.
Another point that distance it to other products on the market is that the generator is highly configurable. Initially jGenUI can generate the CRUD completely from the user’s business model through its ability of inference. However, the inference will never be perfect, so the developer has the possibility of modifying the generator stating what has been inferred. This is done through annotations plus some simple configuration file.

Finally jGenUI is distributed alongside a plugin for Eclipse to integrate naturally into the cycle and development tools.
